Ok, so I know I am a little late talking about this, but life has been a little busy and I haven’t gotten the chance to post in a while. As I start writing this it is 2:27 in the morning. I got off work at midnight picked up some stuff for home then came home. I clicked around for a bit checking the news and decided I should post. So at the very least you should respect my dedication. I only have a few things I want to talk about today but we should jump right in anyway.
First of all, I didn’t get to see WWE’s Survivor Series. I had to work. But, even if I had the night off and the money, wouldn’t order a WWE pay per view right now. This is coming from a die hard pro wrestling and WWE fan, The storylines are boring and the talent they have either aren’t that good, or they aren’t being used to the best of their ability. So, like I do after most wwe pay per views I went to the internet to find the results. Most of it, you could have guessed the outcome without knowing what was going on behind the scenes. The Glamazon Beth Pheonix won her match C.M. Punk beat Del Rio to win the title blah blah blah. The only match that you had to know a little bit about what was going on behind the scenes to really predict was the Dalph Ziggler vs. John Morrison. See, John’s contract is up at the end of the month and it does not look like the WWE is going to be resigning his contract. Knowing that, it is not hard to predict that he was going to lose his fight to Ziggler. The one question my buddy Tactix and I had was why even give Morrison the shot in the first place. Our only guess was to humiliate him while he is heading out the door by having him lose to Ziggler. I find that a little low, but look who it’s coming from.
The match that the Pay Per View is named after was also a disappointment this year. Well, not the match itself, like I said, I haven’t seen it, but the fact that it didn’t really stand for anything is what is disappointing. I remember the days where the two teams were created because each man had a bone to pick with a member of the opposing team. This one, not so much and the few feuds they tried to inject into this match were weak at best. It was aweful to see Sin Cara get hurt for real. His brother reported that Sin Cara had surgery today on his knee and that everything went well, but he will be out for many weeks.
Finally, the Main Event of the evening was Awesome Truth vs. The Rock and John Cena. Now, if you are reading this there is a possibility you were first brought to my site through Tactix site and have read our thoughts on this match. For those of you who are here and don’t know what I am talking about the short version is that both of us believe that had John Cena attacked The Rock after the match, it could have ended the PG era, brought back the attitude era or something like it, and changed the dismal path that the WWE has been going on for a long while now. But since that didn’t happen and The Rock did the attacking, WWE is going to stay on this boring path for the forseeable future. It’s irritating, I know.
The next item on the agenda is an interview that Chael Sonnen did with a Canadian reporter named Michael Landsberg. Basically what happened was Landsberg started the interview out by showing the clip of Sonnen calling out Anderson Silva and saying that he wanted to fight, if Silva won the fight he [Sonnen] would leave the UFC forever. After watching the clip Landsberg asked Sonnen if he was saying he wasn’t going to own up to that challenge. This made Sonnen irate and he started to head off the deep end. Now I admit that Landsberg should have said something to the effect of “There are some reports that you are stepping down from this challenge, is that true?” This may have caused the interview to go a little differently, but none the less it got worse from there. Sonnen didn’t really want to answer any of Landsberg’s questions and so he kept calling them stupid questions. Then, Landsberg caught Sonnen contradicting himself about his thoughts on George St. Pierre and that was pretty much what ended the interview. Sonnen got up took off his mic and walked out. I thought the whole interview was very unprofessional on Sonnen’s part, but he has never been known to be a real classy guy.
Last but not least, I thought I should touch on UFC 139…briefly. Most of the matches went down just like they should have, the better more experience fighter got the win. The closest fight was the main event between Dan Henderson and Rua. This fight went all three rounds and Henderson won by unanimous decision. A couple fighters put on perfomances that may have saved their jobs for a little longer. Wanderlei Silva won his fight against Cung Le and Urijah Faber won his fight agaisnt Brian Bowles. Both of these men have not been doing anything amazing as of late so winning over some impressive opponents definitely had to have made White reconsider any thought he may have been having of letting them go.
Well, that’s all I have for tonight. I won’t be able to post tomorrow because it is Thanskgiving and I will be busy all day and night. I may not post on Friday either because I work in retail and it is Black Friday. So it most likely won’t be until at least Saturday before I post again.
