UFC 137 Results Goodbye to Cro Cop

Well, some MMA Legends took some beatings at Oct. 29th’s UFC Pay Per View. First of all BJ Penn lost to Nick Diaz in a 3 round unanimous decision. I don’t think Penn took this fight as seriously as he should have. I know, “big surprise there”. I think the reason Penn pisses me off so bad is that once everyone started calling him a legend, he stopped caring. That is also one of the reasons why Tito Ortiz pisses me off, but that is another can of worms. Penn announced earlier in the year that he is going to be taking some time off, but he didn’t specifically call it a retirement. I guess it is still to be seen whether or not Penn is going to stay out of the octagon for good.

Cheick Kongo beat Matt Mitrione (neither are current legends) in a unanimous decision which isn’t a huge surprise, but “Meat Head” has been looking good lately so I am a little disappointed.

The other Legend who took a fall or should I say, continued his downfall is Cro Cop. I don’t know what is going on with this guy. I mean he comes in looking good and I don’t think that he is the type of person that takes any fight lightly, but he has just not done well since entering the UFC. Well, that all ended at UFC 137 after a loss to Big Country Roy Nelson. “Cro Cop” announced that this was his last fight. It is sad to see him go, but I would rather see him go now, than stick around and suffer more losses to people who honestly may never be as good as he was at the top of his game.

I was very excited to see Brandon Vera pick up a win. He is one of those fighters that you just have a hard time rooting against. He has been on a downward spiral, and I was a little afraid that if he didn’t pick up this win, Dana’s next victim might just be Vera.

All in all it was a pretty good fight. Next on the docket for UFC is 138: Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz. From a big name aspect, this is a very lack luster card, but you never know, maybe some future legends will be on the card.

By the way, UFC 141 is coming up on Dec. 30th. I hear that the Lesnar vs. Overeem fight is going to be 5 rounds. I don’t know if this is true, but I hope to find out soon. Either way this is one of the most anticipated fights amongst true MMA fans for years. I really can’t wait to see how it turns out. I just hope I don’t have to work that day.

As always, thanks for reading and I will write again soon. TFC
